"Survivors of sexual assault need and deserve as much support as possible, and I am very passionate about working for this cause in any way that I can. PCAC provides so much support to survivors and education to the community, and being just one of several victim advocates and volunteers offers me the amazing opportunity to support individuals as well." Maggie, Volunteer
In 2022, our volunteers dedicated more than 3,000 hours of their time to helping survivors of sexual violence.
Without the help of these amazing volunteers, our services could not happen.
Whether you can volunteer a few hours or multiple days a month, Pickens County Advocacy Center would be happy to have you!
Pickens County Advocacy Center offers training for all volunteers who wish to aid in the impact of these survivors. Our training is mostly online and self-paced, so it is perfect for anyone. During training, you will learn about the impacts of sexual violence, crisis intervention, victim advocacy, and so much more.
On-Call Victim Advocates require a 25-hour training course to learn how to effectively navigate answering crisis calls and accompanying survivors to the hospital.
Our volunteer opportunities include:
On-Call Victim Advocacy - answering calls on the crisis hotline and accompanying survivors to the hospital
Administrative Work - light office work, answering phone calls, organizing survivor support closet, data entry, etc.
Community Outreach - attending events in the community to spread awareness about sexual violence prevention and support services
Event Planning - assist with fundraisers, planning and preparing for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and other agency activities
Fundraising Assistance - giving out fundraising information packets to community members, sending donor mail packets, etc
Social Media Ambassador - following us on social media, sharing our content, making social media posts, etc
Volunteers must be 18, pass a SLED background check, and sign a confidentiality agreement.
